Thai Film Industries Public Company Limited (TFI)
was originally established under the name of Rachadachai O.P.P.
Co., Ltd. on March 3, 1983. A pioneering businessman, Mr. Prayudh
Mahagitsiri, initiated the project to eliminate Thailand's dependence
on BOPP film imports.
As the first manufacturer of BOPP and polyester film
in Thailand and the southeast Asian region, we succeeded to expand
our production capacity to meet the rapidly growing demand for BOPP
film in the domestic and world market.
From only 1,000 metric tons of BOPP film per year
in 1983, our total plant capacity has now reached 65,500 metric
tons per year, including 4,500 metric tons of polyester film and
3,500 metric tons of cast polypropylene or CPP film. In addition,
we have the capacity to produce 7,000 metric tons of metallized
film and 3,000 metric tons of color or silicone coated
film.
Our machines do not only have greater capacity; they
also run at much higher speeds and can accommodate product
widths of up to 8.0 meters. Because of this expansion, we are now
one of the world's leading manufacturers and exporters of BOPP film.
We currently market our products to over 40 countries worldwide--in
Asia, North and South America, Australia and New Zealand, Europe
and Africa. Our products are well known for their quality
as well as competitive price.
To fulfil the requirements of our existing worldwide
customers and new customers, which has the growth rate 6% per year
at present and expect to have same growth rate in the next 5 years,
the Company is planning to increase BOPP Film capacity of another
27,000 tons/year to serve the increasing demand worldwide. We expect
to start commercial run by early 2003 in order to maintain our position
as one of the world's leading manufacturers and exporters of BOPP
Film.
